The Weller WR2000A is a professional, 2-channel multifunction station designed for soldering, desoldering, and hot air rework. The set is based on the Weller WR2 control unit and includes the 100W HAP1 hot air gun and its corresponding WDH30 safety rest.

The WR2000A integrates a built-in vacuum and airflow pump, eliminating the need for an external compressed air source to operate the HAP1. The two independent channels feature automatic tool recognition and accommodate a wide range of compatible Weller soldering irons, desoldering irons, and tools.

The configuration is particularly suitable for electronics laboratories, professional maintenance, production and SMD rework, offering the possibility of managing traditional soldering, desoldering and hot air in a single platform.

Technical features

Professional 2-channel multifunction station

The WR2000A uses the Weller WR2 unit, featuring two independent channels with automatic recognition of connected tools. This architecture allows the station to be configured according to the job to be performed, using compatible soldering irons, desoldering irons, and hot air tools.

The platform allows for the simultaneous operation of two compatible tools within the system's power limits, making it possible to organize a versatile rework station without using multiple separate control units.

Weller HAP1 hot air stylus included

The WR2000A set includes the Weller HAP1 professional 100 W / 24 V hot air gun. The HAP1 is designed for contactless soldering and desoldering operations and allows the heat flow to be concentrated on the component via interchangeable nozzles.

Electronic management of temperature and airflow allows the process to be adapted to the characteristics of the component and the printed circuit board.

Internal pump for air and vacuum

One of the main advantages of the WR2000A is the pump integrated into the WR2 unit. The system internally generates both the vacuum required by compatible desoldering tools and the airflow used by the HAP1 pen.

The pump's flow rate reaches 18 l/min, while the maximum available hot air flow is 10 l/min. The maximum declared vacuum for the WR2 platform is 0.7 bar.

The presence of the integrated pump therefore allows the WR2000A to operate without requiring an external compressed air network.

Temperature up to 550°C

The WR2 platform can handle temperatures ranging from 50 to 550°C depending on the connected tool. The actual operating range therefore varies depending on the stylus used.

For the HAP1, the old Elcoteam technical documentation indicates an operating range of up to 550°C, making the configuration suitable for numerous professional hot air rework operations.

Automatic tool recognition

The WR2's two channels automatically recognize compatible Weller tools when connected. The unit can then apply the appropriate parameters for the type of tool used, simplifying station setup.

Wide compatibility with Weller tools

The WR2 platform is designed to use a variety of professional Weller tools up to 200W, allowing the WR2000A to be transformed from a hot air station to a multifunctional soldering and desoldering system simply by connecting compatible tools.

Tools historically associated with the WR2 platform include the WP65, WP80, WSP80, WTP90, WP120, WSP150 and WP200 soldering irons, the DS80, DSX80, DXV80 and DSX120 desoldering irons and the HAP1 hot air gun.

Energy Management and Sleep Mode

The WR2 platform features dedicated functions to reduce energy consumption and tool wear. When a stylus is not in use, the temperature can be reduced using the station's Standby/Sleep functions.

The automatic temperature reduction during pauses also helps limit oxidation and premature wear of the soldering tips.

ESD Safe and equipotential bonding

The WR2000A is ESD Safe and is designed for professional use on electrostatic sensitive electronic components.

The unit also features a 3.5 mm jack for equipotential bonding. Weller claims tip-to-ground compliance with IPC-J-001 requirements.

Updated dimensions

Current Weller documentation lists the overall dimensions of the unit as 280 × 240 × 103 mm. Some older documentation lists 273 × 235 × 102 mm; the current Weller dimensional data is used for the new board.

WR2000A Configuration

The WR2000A is the WR2000 family configuration dedicated primarily to hot air rework. The set uses the WR2 unit and adds the HAP1 stylus and its holder.

The WR2 platform was also offered in different configurations, including the WR2000D for desoldering applications and the WR2002 as a combination set with soldering and desoldering tools.
