WDC2 Dry Cleane r for WDH safety holder and the optimal Cleaning Kit. When using lead-free alloys you will notice an increase in oxidation in the wettable area of the tip. This oxide must be removed regularly, otherwise it will render the tip completely non wettable and no longer usable. When cleaning the tip with the WDC Weller Dry Cleaner a special metal wool is used to remove the excess solder and at the same time the oxides formed on the tip. Cleaning is done by pressing and rotating the tip in the wire wool. After cleaning there is still a small layer of alloy on the tip to prevent the iron layer from oxidizing quickly. This offers a huge advantage over cleaning with a sponge. Wire wool can be dipped in a flux that could improve its performance.
Using Tip Activator, oxidized tips can be regenerated. Tip Activator is environmentally safe and contains no halides, lead, resin or residue. Regular use during soldering can extend the life of the tips.
Finally, the special WPB1 Abrasive Bar allows the removal of significant oxidations. This accessory allows you to scrape the deepest oxidations. Warning: TO BE USED WHEN COLD! Scratch the cold tips very delicately and then heat them up and let them stagnate. This accessory should be used when the tip it no longer allows wettability and must be understood as a last resort to save the tips.
