The Weller WXDP120, also referred to as WXDP 120 and WXDP-120, is a professional high-power 120W/24V desoldering iron developed for rework and desoldering applications on complex electronic circuits and components with high thermal mass.

The 120W power, the heating time of approximately 35 seconds and the intelligent system of the WX platform allow for reduced working times and an effective thermal response during solder removal.

The WXDP120 uses Weller desoldering nozzles from the XDS and XDSL series and features Push & Pull technology for quick cartridge changes, a motion sensor, a programmable Set-back function and intelligent WX electronics.

120W Professional Desoldering Iron

The WXDP120 offers 120W of power, more than traditional desoldering irons designed for standard electronics work. This power output allows you to effectively tackle even joints connected to ground planes, multilayer circuits, and assemblies characterized by significant heat loss.

The increased power also helps reduce the time needed to bring the joint to the correct desoldering temperature, improving efficiency during professional rework interventions.

Warms up in about 35 seconds

Weller states a heat-up time of about 35 seconds from 50°C to 350°C. Older Elcoteam documentation also states that it takes about 20 seconds from the resting temperature of 150°C to the operating temperature of 350°C.

This speed allows for effective use of the automatic temperature reduction functions without introducing long waits when the operator resumes work.

Motion sensor and Set-back function

The WXDP120 integrates a motion sensor that allows the system to recognize the phases of use and inactivity of the tool.

When the desoldering iron is not in use, the station can automatically reduce the temperature through the programmable Set-back function. When the operator picks up the tool, the system quickly returns the desoldering iron to operating temperature.

This intelligent management helps reduce energy consumption and prolonged exposure of the nozzle to high temperatures.

Weller XDS and XDSL nozzles

The WXDP120 uses Weller professional desoldering nozzles from the XDS and XDSL families, available in numerous diameters and geometries to adapt to the different sizes of terminals and joints to be desoldered.

The structure of the nozzles allows the aspirated solder to flow towards the collection container, helping to limit the accumulation of residues in the desoldering iron head and reducing maintenance interventions.

Push & Pull Technology

The Push & Pull system allows for quick replacement of the cartridge and the solder collection elements. Weller designed the system to simplify maintenance and allow for safer and faster desoldering iron management.

WX Intelligent System
